RAM

Video Game

RAM was a larger project where we were several “departments” all working together. We were students from gamedesign, 3D modelling, Narrative and audio/sound. Together we would form a sort of indie game studio and work a 8-16 job each day working on this game.

RAM is about a young sheep whose parents get kidnapped by wolves, so naturally this little sheep called Rammy takes revenge by going on a killing spree… naturally.

During this project I was in a small team working as a system designer. Our tasks would wary, but be mainly about creating and balancing game systems. For me, this meant helping to design the different abilities that Rammy would be able to perform, everything from a ground-pound to a dash attack. Then I’d create some drawings and try to sketch an idea of what it would look like in game, how much damage and cooldown it would use. Then I’d hand it over to the coding team and the 3D team, making sure to have regular back and forth.

Along with helping to design abilities I would help write a “bestiary” for the game. A journal of sorts that would keep track of the different enemies and letters the player would pick up during the game. Along with general info, some lore and flavor text as  well. This project was a lot of fun to work on and was a great experience to have as it reflected a normal day at work in the games industry.

You can find a playable build of it here, on itch.io.
